I’ve spent the better part of thirty years at the intersection of technology, media, and communication — writing about it, building products around it, broadcasting about it, and occasionally arguing with it at close range.
My writing career began in 1996 as a technology columnist for Monitor magazine, and over the following fourteen years I was a columnist/contributing editor to regional, national, and international publications including HUB: The Computer Paper, HUB Digital Living, Ottawa Computes, Government Computer, TechKnow, and authored individual articles for many more. For two years I hosted The Computer Radio Show, a two hour tech showcase on CFRA, Ottawa’s largest talk-radio station. From 2010 to 2015 I edited and published DarkroomPro, an iOS digital photography magazine distributed by Apple in 155 countries that reached the top of the Arts & Photography charts in two markets.
In parallel, I built Mindspan — an independent consultancy I’ve run since 1998 — delivering product management, go-to-market strategy, and delivery of technology and marketing solutions to clients ranging from venture-backed startups to large public-sector organizations. I’ve led product teams in AI, data science, agtech, SaaS, and digital publishing; served as Chief Marketing Officer for a horticultural AI company; and directed product development for indoor-agriculture sensor and analytics platforms. I’m a also Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO).
Away from screens, I do voiceover work, play classical guitar, and compose for orchestra. The range probably makes more sense than it appears to; it all comes down to the same thing: finding the clearest way to say something worth saying.
The selection of articles on this site span nearly three decades of tech journalism, written for working professionals navigating a world that was changing faster than anyone had a manual for. Some of it will look dated. Some of it will look familiar.
